Tiny History Lesson

I've always had a passion for creating.

It all began when my parents gifted me a Fisher-Price camera that could only capture photos. I eagerly roamed our home, photographing everything from objects to family members. My parents discovered that I would exhaust all the photos in disposable cameras, and now we have a collection of those prints proudly displayed in our library.

In 4th grade, I received my first proper camera and was enamored by its ability to capture both photos and videos. I documented everything—vacations, friends' quirky antics, and even me drumming at my elementary school. The convenience of having a camera that could easily fit into my pocket was a game-changer.

By the time I reached middle school, I started diving into editing software. I began with iMovie on my iPad, creating short YouTube videos—though, I must admit, some are quite cringeworthy. As I progressed, I transitioned to an older Mac computer with more advanced software that required longer rendering times. Eventually, I discovered Final Cut Pro. Around this time, a friend gifted me my first real camera, a Sony Alpha A5100. I was thrilled to explore its capabilities and produced some of my first semi-professional videos with it. This camera became my trusty companion, especially when paired with a GoPro Hero 5, for countless YouTube projects.

During high school, I had the opportunity to work with audio and video equipment at my local community television station. Volunteering there allowed me to create content for my school's Music Department. I proudly served as the lead of our school's media team throughout my high school years. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I invested in my first DSLR camera, drone, and gimbal. These acquisitions significantly boosted my creative potential.

Since starting college in Jacksonville, I've brought most of my equipment with me. I regularly undertake video and photoshoot projects. My personal collection of audiovisual equipment continues to expand each semester, and I relish the opportunity to refine my skills and craft in real-world settings.
